The Europeans made history by clinching the first ever Women's Olympic Futsal tournament. A remarkable 4-1 win over Japan in the final gave the gold medal to the Portuguese side, completing a perfect record of six victories in Buenos Aires.
Fifó (POR) was the top scorer of the event with 21 goals in six games, including four in the final against Japan. María Galvez from Bolivia (14) and Noelia De Las Heras from Spain (12) followed her on the podium.
It is fantastic to have Futsal at the Youth Olympics. It gives us the chance to become more competitive at a younger age. This medal reflects the work of the past three years, but we want more.

Spain won the Bronze Medal by beating a brave Bolivia 11-0 on the final day. The South Americans, the big surprise of the tournament, stole fans' hearts in Argentina.

Not only the teams made history in Buenos Aires: Gelareh Nazemi became the first Iranian woman to work at a FIFA Futsal event. The referee of the final was one of the six female referees at Buenos Aires 2018.
